een latje van 256 mb en een latje van 512 mb

maar nu is mijn probleem, hij toont maar 480 mb ram bij mijn

Dit is normaal. Jouw computer heeft een onboard grafische kaart en die gebruikt ramgeheugen als videokaart geheugen.

Je kan eventueel in het bios kijken of je de hoeveelheid geheugen voor je videokaart kan verkleinen (64 megabyte moet genoeg zijn)

Ik zie juist waardoor je maar 480 meg ram hebt; hij herkent 2 latjes van 256 megabyte ram en haalt daar 32 megabyte af, dus 480 over.

Ben je zeker dat het om een latje van 512 gaat dat er bij gestoken is?
