Usb 3.0 cable CIDU C-707654 - USB-kabel doesn't work

I just bought a usb cable to transfer the information and files form my old laptop to my new laptop. But when i put the cable into the both laptops I doesn't see anything. i was wondering if I have to do anything so the cable does work.
