Linux wachtwoor achterhalen

Hallo, 

kort geleden heb ik Linux 20.1 in gebruik.

Wachtwoord ingesteld en automatisch inloggen.

Nu wordt is er voor het updaten een wachtwoord vereist. Eerdere keren lukte dat wel, nu de laatste keer echter niet meer. 
Ik kan wel gewoon inloggen zonder wachtwoord, maar updaten dus niet meer.

Waar kan ik mijn wachtwoord vinden en evt. opnieuw activeren/wijzigen?

Ik log op geen enkel apparaat automatisch in. Ik stel een wachtwoord of pincode in, en die gebruik ik altijd om in te loggen. Natuurlijk is het makkelijk om op je Linux computer automatisch in te loggen als jij de enige persoon bent die toegang heeft tot die pc. Maar inderdaad moet je om Linux Mint te kunnen updaten je wachtwoord invoeren. En het risico bestaat dat je het wachtwoord vergeet als je automatisch inlogt, zoals jij nu hebt gemerkt.

Er worden in dat artikel meerdere manieren genoemd om het wachtwoord te wijzigen. Optie 1 valt af, want daarvoor moet je gebruikersnaam én wachtwoord kennen van het root account (het superuser account), en die zul je niet weten.
